Madonna has made sure not to forget the children she has befriended in Malawi.
In the season of goodwill, the superstar sent gifts to the residents of Kondanani orphanage, the former home of her adopted daughter Mercy James.
Her youngest son David Banda also comes from small the African nation, where the 51-year-old has become a keen philanthropist. Earlier she travelled there with all four of her children to break ground at a girls school she has founded.
The truckload of gifts, delivered by an African Santa Claus, included Crocodile footwear and chocolate. They were handed to more than 80 children and bore tags reading 'Love from Mercy'.
Madonna also laid on a party replete with soft drinks, hamburgers and chocolate.
One of the orphans, six-year-old Chitsanzo, said: 'I am very happy my friend Mercy bought us shoes, toys, chocolates and cakes. They are very beautiful.'
Her friend Happiness, four, added: 'I'm so happy I have received Christmas gifts. I have my own toys now.'
Carers at the orphanage noted the gifts were the most the children had ever received.
