Stella McCartney faces a dramatic conflict of loyalties when she launches her 2012 Resort Collection in New York on Monday.
The guest list reads like a roll call of A-listers.
But there's uncertainty over whether Stella's friend Madonna will attend the 39-year-old designer's party in the garden of the Church of Saint Luke, in New York's trendy West Village.
Sources say the singer has fallen out with Stella's pals Gwyneth Paltrow and Kate Hudson, who are also invited.
'There was a frosty exchange between Madonna and Kate Hudson at the Met Ball,' says my source.
'Madonna still hasn't got over Kate dating her ex, Alex Rodriguez, and her friendship with Gwyneth is strained largely because Gwyneth has founded a very lucrative business with Tracy Anderson, who was Madonna's fitness expert.
'Stella is worried that there could be a bit too much drama at her fashion launch. It's all very awkward.'
Meanwhile, slender supermodel Natalia Vodianova is launching a new charity with Stella.
Let's hope Her Madgesty can get along with her.
