Madonna Back In The Day

Seven years before her first hit made the national top 100, she looked like any teenage school girl.

She'd go on to become one of the all-time best-selling female rock stars when, in 1983, she'd chart for the first time with her debut single, "Holiday."

Almost a year before that, her first release, "Everybody," didn't even make the list.

She was born Madonna Louise Ciccone in Bay City, Michigan.

After "Holiday," two more top 10 hits came in quick succession, "Borderline" and "Lucky Star."

She then hit the TOP of the charts for the first time with "Like a Virgin."

There would be 11 MORE #1 songs at last count, and so many other big hits that reached the top 10.

Behind (1)[lastfm]Elvis[/lastfm], (2)[lastfm]The Beatles[/lastfm] and (3)[lastfm]Elton John[/lastfm], [lastfm]MADONNA[/lastfm] is ranked the #4 most popular rock star/artist of all-time.

[lastfm]Mariah Carey[/lastfm] rounds out the top 5.
